Lynette Rice’s unauthorised book, ‘How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy’ claims star Patrick Dempsey’s exit was apparently due to him being impossible to work with.
Dempsey, who played Derek “McDreamy” Shepard, the love interest of Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey, was “terrorising the set” of the hit medical drama, Rice’s book claims.
His Season 11 exit came amid “HR issues”, former executive producer James D. Parriott, as quoted in the book, elaborates.
Parriott adds that series creator Shonda Rhimes needed someone “to come in as sort of a showrunner for 14 episodes”, which brought Parriott back to ‘Grey’s’ to help in the final days of Dempsey’s time there.
