In this video from the ‘Barbican Session’ series, guitarist Sean Shibe plays the world premiere of contemporary composer Daniel Kidane’s ‘Haze’. ‘Haze’ is an atmospheric, otherworldly piece that emerged from the halt to live musical collaboration imposed by Covid-19.
Yet, as we see here, the obstacle provided fuel for this innovative composition, with remotely-recorded cassettes providing the accompaniment for the electric guitar’s resonant sounds.
The Barbican Centre is a performing arts centre in London, and the largest of its kind in Europe.
This ‘Barbican Session’ was supported by Classical Futures Europe, an EU-funded platform that supports partnerships between Europe’s leading concert halls and talented emerging artists, to create innovative events that develop new audiences, as part of a forward-facing, thriving classical music scene.
