Compared to other beverages, coffee is a relative newcomer, spreading slowly from Africa, through the Middle East, and into the West only a few centuries ago. Yet today, it’s hard to imagine a world without it.
More importantly, 90 per cent of the world’s adults consume some form of caffeine everyday, making it the most widely used psychoactive drug on Earth. Not to mention, one of the main sources of antioxidants in much of the Western world.
