Given that every CULTURESCOPE episode comes packed with goodies, each standalone segment merits closer revisiting.
In this video, taken from Season 1, Episode 5 of CULTURESCOPE, host of the popular web series Paul Lambis interviews multi-award-winning film director and founder of the ‘Cyprus International Film Festival’, Petra Terzi.
Athens native Terzi is also co-founder of ‘Women in Film and Television Cyprus’, a platform that facilitates networking among female professionals, while showcasing the talents of rising stars, artists and directors.
Terzi remembers yearning to be a film director at the age of 14, but life had other plans, and having formally studied business at university, she spent years in the corporate world as an events manager.
Nevertheless, when she eventually segued into organising film festivals, it was only a matter of time before her original dream took hold of her once more, and she completed filmmaking programmes in Greece and Cyprus.
Her most recent documentary, ‘She Should Run’, touches on human rights and gender equality, making the case for women’s voices to be heard, and their abilities to lead, supported.
“I’m very proud of this film, as I believe that our democracy will benefit from the world perspectives and experiences that women bring to leadership,” says Terzi.
“And with this movie, I wish to inspire more women to decide to run for an office in their communities, and for people to vote for women,” she adds.
